Thermal Springs of Kokkino Nero

Just before Mount Kissavos meets the Aegean Sea, along the coastline of the Municipality of Agia, lies the settlement of Kokkino Nero and its namesake open-air thermal springs.

Thermal Springs of Kokkino Nero

The running water truly reddens everything in its path and was officially recognized by the Greek State and the Ministry of Tourism in 2019 as a natural thermal resource for balneotherapy and drinking therapy. It is indicated for gastrointestinal and urinary tract conditions, rheumatic diseases, sciatica, lumbago, and nervous system disorders. The springs are located a short distance from the village’s beach, so you can enjoy two different types of “bathing” in one day! Access to the springs is free.

Not far away, on the slopes of Mount Kissavos, it is worth seeking out the "secret" stone bridge of Paparizaina, which likely dates back to Byzantine times.
