The recent organization and signposting of the island's traditional trails, through the "Skiathos Trails" program, highlight its beauties, attracting more and more lovers of nature and outdoor activity.

A Network of Hiking and Cultural Routes

"Skiathos Trails" is the official network of hiking and cycling trails on the island, a project of the Municipal Authority of Skiathos, which includes approximately 200 kilometers of routes. The routes vary in difficulty and duration, covering every level of experience. Hikers have the opportunity to choose from easy, short routes to demanding ones, lasting up to six hours, while enjoying the safety ensured by the excellent signposting and the continuous care of the trails.

The landscape of Skiathos is characterized by impressive alternations. From forests with pines, arbutus and oaks, to sandy beaches and steep rocks overlooking the Aegean, the routes offer unforgettable images. Visitors can discover lush ravines with running waters, old watermills, traditional olive mills and historic monasteries that capture the rich history of the island.

The new Skiathos Heritage Trails initiative

The new “Skiathos Heritage Trails” initiative enriches the existing network with five thematic cultural routes, based on the oral stories of the island's inhabitants. These routes offer a unique experience, combining nature with the cultural heritage of Skiathos. At points of cultural interest, signs with QR codes have been placed, which allow visitors to listen - as they rest - to narrations from residents of the island. At the same time, the starting points of the routes provide information on accessibility for people with disabilities (PwD), making Skiathos a destination friendly to all.
