The most beautiful beaches of Skiathos

Skiathos is one of the most popular summer destinations in Greece. It is renowned for its exotic beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and dense pine forests that reach the shoreline. From cosmopolitan coasts to secluded coves, the island offers options for every type of traveler.

The most beautiful beaches of Skiathos

Koukounaries

The most iconic beach of Skiathos, known for its golden, fine sand and its shallow, warm waters. Behind it stretches a unique pine forest that reaches the shoreline, creating an almost exotic setting. The beach is fully organized, with sunbeds, water sports, and dining options, making it ideal for families as well as for those seeking comfort and activities. Behind the beautiful pine forest “hides” the Strofylia Lagoona wetland of great importance, covering an area of 350 hectares. It has been designated a Wildlife Refuge and is also part of the European Natura 2000 network.

Lalaria

Lalaria is perhaps the most photographed landscape in Skiathos. Access is exclusively by sea, enhancing the sense of isolation and uniqueness. The white pebbles, sculpted by the waves, and the imposing rock formations create an almost “lunar” scenery. The natural arch of Trypia Petra is the ultimate highlight, perfect for photos. The waters deepen relatively quickly and are exceptionally clear, but caution is required when it is windy, as access depends on weather conditions. The beach is not organized, and the collection of pebbles is strictly prohibited.

Vromolimnos

Vromolimnos is one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan beaches on the island. Its shallow, calm waters make it ideal for swimming, while the beach bars create a vibrant summer atmosphere with music and events. It is particularly popular among younger visitors and those who want to combine swimming with entertainment. Despite its lively character, it maintains the cleanliness and beauty that define Skiathos. It is also perfect for beautiful sunsets.

Mandraki

On the western side of the island, Mandraki offers a more "wild" and authentic experience. The beach features sand mixed with small pebbles and clear waters, while it is surrounded by lush vegetation that provides natural shade. It is less crowded compared to the eastern coasts, making it ideal for relaxation. The sunset here is particularly impressive, with the sun disappearing into the Aegean horizon.

Elias

Very close to Mandraki (the two beaches are separated by a small peninsula), Elias Beach is a small, relatively quiet bay that stands out for its natural beauty. The combination of sand and deep blue waters creates an ideal setting for relaxation. Access is easy, yet it does not attract large crowds, making it perfect for those who avoid busy places. The green landscape surrounding it enhances the sense of seclusion.

Aselinos

Aselinos is divided into two beaches (Megalos Aselinos and Mikros Aselinos). It is located on the northern side of Skiathos and offers a completely different experience compared to the more “gentle” southern beaches. This is a wilder coastline, with stronger waves and deeper waters. Its natural beauty is striking, with a more unpretentious and authentic character. Ideal for those who love nature and are not necessarily looking for full organization.

Lygaries

Slightly east of Aselinos, Lygaries is a beautiful, sheltered bay with calm, clear waters and rich vegetation. The beach is organized, yet without losing its tranquil character. It is ideal for families and for those who want to enjoy swimming in a more relaxed environment.

Kastro

The beach next to Kastro, at the northernmost tip of the island, combines natural beauty with historical interest. It lies below the old settlement of Skiathos, its medieval capital. Access requires a short hike, but the experience rewards visitors with a striking, wild landscape. The deep waters and the secluded atmosphere create a unique experience, ideal for those seeking something different. You can also visit it by boat tours that circle the island.

Tsougrias

The islet of Tsougrias is a small paradise opposite Skiathos. Its beaches, with white sand and turquoise waters, resemble exotic destinations. Access is by boat from the port, making the visit a small sea excursion. The landscape is pristine, with minimal human intervention, making it ideal for those seeking a more “wild” and authentic experience. The islet features two small lagoons, as well as a now-abandoned olive mill, while religious weddings are often held at the picturesque chapel of Agios Floros.
