SKIATHOS, SKOPELOS, ALONNISOS - Island Hopping in the Emerald Aegean

The Northern Sporades – Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos – form an island complex in the northwestern Aegean that stands out for its natural beauty, authentic identity and the variety of experiences it offers. A destination that combines marine recreation with cultural heritage and relaxation with exploration.

Skiathos is the gateway to the Sporades, as it has one of the most impressive regional airports in Europe. At the same time, it has a network of marked trails that cross the interior of the island and lead to beaches or historical sites, offering a different experience on each route.
It is also the island of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the "saint of Greek letters", with the writer's house-museum being a point of reference for every visitor. On the northern coasts, the medieval Castle stands proudly on the rock, while beaches such as Koukounaries and Lalaria impress with their natural beauty.

Skopelos – Nature, culture and spirituality

Skopelos is the largest and greenest island of the Sporades, known for its pine forests that reach the sea, its natural coves and its clear beaches, such as Milia, Panormos and Kastani. The island gained international fame in 2008, when it hosted the filming of the movie Mamma Mia!, with the chapel of Agios Ioannis in Kastri being a characteristic point.

Skopelos has a strong spiritual character. There are 123 churches and chapels in Chora, while throughout the island there are estimated to be over 360 temples. Around Chora, in the area of Palouki, stand 15 monasteries, some of which are open to visitors. Spirituality, nature and a gentle pace of life make up the identity of the island.

Alonissos stands out for its simplicity, natural tranquility and its close relationship with the sea. Beyond the beaches and the traditional beauty of the Old Village, the island is surrounded by dozens of small, uninhabited islands reminiscent of Polynesia. This whole is the core of the National Marine Park, the first and largest protected marine area in Greece, a refuge for the Mediterranean seal Monachus monachus and rich in biodiversity. The country's first underwater museum also operates here, at the Peristera shipwreck.
