Rafting on the Pineios River

If you want to get to know the Pineios River and the Tempi Valley "from the inside", all you have to do is get on a boat and enjoy the unique experience of a rafting trip.

Rafting on the Pineios River

In a landscape of rare beauty, in the legendary Tempi Valley, with the giant branches of plane trees wrapping around you and herons and nightingales accompanying you, you will enjoy an unforgettable, relatively calm descent lasting 2 hours, ideal for beginners. A green, winding route of exceptional beauty with passages of the 1st and 2nd degree of difficulty, in one of the most important natural monuments of our country with a huge wealth of myths. The Muses choose the Pineios for their residence, the god Apollo chases the nymph Daphne, Aphrodite comes every time she wants to regain her purity, while Apollo defeats "Darkness" in the river.

A route that starts shortly after the tekke of Hassan Baba, passes under the suspended bridge of Tempi, with a recommended stop at Agia Paraskevi for a visit that we can only see kneeling the "Hagiasma", next to the ancient places of worship, the traditional dristela (water mill) and ending at the bridge of Rapsani. For the slightly more "initiated" the same descent can be done with two-seater or three-seater inflatable boats ("Hot Dog")

For the more "advanced"

For those seeking experiences with a strong dose of adrenaline, there is the rafting route in Vernezi, "higher up" on the Pineios. This particular point of the river is distinguished by the large volume of water that leads the boat to continuous passages of the 3rd and 4th degree of difficulty, with only short periods of smooth flow, in a frenetic descent of 2 hours! It is recommended for those who like to feel the power of water and "fight" with the waves!
