Monastery of Agia Triada: The “Inaccessible” One It is built on a towering, imposing rock, offering stunning views of Kalambaka and some of the most impressive "towers" of Meteora.
The Agia Triada Monastery will test the endurance of the visitor, as it is the most inaccessible and "tiring" and therefore the least "popular". This is also its great advantage, because it allows the visitor to experience something of the mysterious atmosphere of Meteora even in the summer, when the other monasteries are flooded with people. You will need to go down the cobbled path and then climb the 140 steps that were carved into the rock in 1925. There is also a small cable car that connects the monastery with the "outside world", but it is used only by the monks and for the transport of goods. Of course, when the monastery was built, there were no such "luxuries" and much effort and time were required to complete the works. According to popular tradition, it took 70 years just to get the materials up the rock. In reality, it seems that it took only (!) 18 years to build the monastery, between 1458 and 1476 AD. A certain monk Dométios is said to be its most likely founder.Agia Triada Monastery - Visiting Hours (T/ +302432022220)Summer hours (1/4 - 31/10): 9:00-17:00 Closed every Thursday Winter hours (1/11 - 31/3) : 10:00-16:00 Closed every Thursday Related Tags KALAMBAKA - KASTRAKI - Secular guardians of the sacred rocks, METEORA - Between Heaven and Earth,
