One of the many places in Thessaly where you can enjoy intense autumn colors is Lake Longas in the Antichasia Mountains. It is a small, artificial lake that takes its name from the neighboring village. It was created for the water supply and irrigation of the adjacent settlements and is surrounded by impressive beech and oak forests. The dam to which the lake owes its creation was built between 1998 and 2002. In the beautifully landscaped surrounding area, visitors can enjoy picnics, leisurely hikes, and mountain biking. Following the nice paths around the perimeter, it does not take more than two hours of leisurely walking to go around the lake. Lake Longas is 47 km from Trikala, 39 from Kalampaka, 15 from Verdikoussa and 77 from Larissa.
