Volos City MuseumThe Volos City Museum offers a unique experience for those who wish to discover the history and identity of the city through the voices and lived experiences of its inhabitants.
Housed since 2014 (its founding year) in the former Papantou tobacco warehouse, a 1920 industrial building located at 17 Feron Street, in the Old Town of Volos, the museum is the first modern City Museum in Greece. The permanent exhibition — based on donations from residents and institutions of the city — titled “Volos, 10+ Stories” presents the city's development from the mid-19th to the late 20th century, through thematic sections such as urban planning and infrastructure, demographics and diversity, city networks (Mediterranean, cultural, economic), the city in times of crisis, modernization and urban transformation, reconstruction, the world of labor, tourism, culture, and sports.Living stories and participatory activities The museum goes beyond static displays. It offers historical walks based on personal memories, audio tours, and educational programs that encourage visitor participation.
