Pelion Ski Center Enjoyment on the road with the Agriolefkes (Wild Poplars). The Pelion Ski Center began operating in 1967 on the initiative of the Hellenic Alpine Club of Volos. Despite being located at a low altitude for a ski resort (1,471 meters), due to the special microclimate of the area, it retains snow for a fairly long period of time.
The Pelion Ski Center has 5 slopes with a difficulty ranging from easy to difficult, a cross-country ski track, and a Snow Park. Skiers are served by 5 lifts (of which 3 are operating this year), while there are two chalets and a mountain refuge on the summit of Agriolefkes. On days with a clear atmosphere, the view from the top is magical as the visitor can enjoy a unique panorama from the Aegean Sea to the Pagasetic Gulf.Modern equipment is available for rent, while experienced certified instructors will initiate beginners, as well as more advanced skiers, into the secrets of winter sports. Learning sections for children from 3 years and older are also in operation, making the Ski Center an ideal destination for family excursions and "adventures" that will be etched in the memory of the tiny skiers. Very close to the ski resort, there are 3 outdoor parking lots with a total capacity of 800 vehicles. At a distance of about 2 km, in Chania of Pelion, visitors will find options for accommodation and food, with the famous Pelion cuisine being at the center. At a relatively short distance from the ski resort are several of the picturesque villages of Pelion, with a characteristic example being Portaria, which is 15 km away, while the city of Volos could also be the base of your excursion, as it is only 26 km away.
