Astrocamping in the Agrafa MountainsIf you dream of sleeping under the embrace of the Milky Way, seeing nebulas with the naked eye, and listening to the silence of the mountain peaks, then astro-camping at the summit of Tsmi in Eastern Argithea is an experience you simply can't miss.
With the Agrafa mountains as a backdrop and astrophotographer Konstantinos Vasilakakos as your guide, this two-day journey to the sky and the mountains promises more than just an excursion: it offers an inner transcendence, a "connection" with the universe. From Petrilo to the Summit The adventure begins in the village of Vasilades–Petrilo, above the church of Agios Panteleimonas. There, participants meet and, after leaving their vehicles, board off-road transport for a scenic ride through picturesque villages and fir forest. This leads to a shepherd's hut at an altitude of 1650 meters. From there, the hike to the summit of Tsmi (1911 m) begins, following a panoramic trail with views of the surrounding mountains: Voutsikaki, Karava, Tzoumerka, Kanalaki, Agios Elissaios, and more.A Night Under the Starry SkyUpon reaching the summit, tents are pitched, stretching and preparation take place, and then the guided tour begins, exploring the mountainous terrain surrounding Tsmi. As the sun sets, the shadows of the mountains create cinematic imagery, and the Belt of Venus—the distinctive pink and blue twilight glow—makes its appearance just before night falls.Once darkness sets in, the stargazing begins with a telescope (SkyWatcher 90/900 AZ3) and astrophotography, led by Konstantinos Vasilakakos. Those interested can take part in a brief astrophotography workshop or simply enjoy the spectacle of the galaxy, nebulas, and planets from the alpine peak.Meanwhile, participants enjoy a light meal (trahanas, hilopites or vegetable risotto), mountain tea, and fireside conversations about local legends and the unique lifestyle of the mountains. The more adventurous may sleep outdoors in a sleeping bag (bivouac) beneath the starry sky, granting themselves a rare experience of freedom and unity with nature.Image Dawn in Color and StoryAround 5:30 a.m., everyone wakes to witness the first light and sunrise emerging over the Agrafa peaks—a moment filled with silence, light, and awe. Breakfast follows, and at 7:30 a.m. the return to the hut and village begins. The descent offers opportunities for foraging wild oregano and strawberries, always with respect for the natural environment.Useful InformationEmail: finixadventures@gmail.comWebsite: www.finixadventures.comRelated TagsARGITHEA - At the heart of Agrafa,PLASTIRAS LAKE - A Man-Made Wonder That Feels Eternal,
