Chestnut Festival of Karitsa / October 25–26

In the beautiful village of Karitsa, on the slopes of Mount Kissavos overlooking the Aegean, a two-day celebration is held in honor of one of the region’s most prized fruits — the chestnut.

Chestnut Festival of Karitsa / October 25–26

The chestnut is an integral part of Larissa’s agricultural production, with deep historical roots, especially in the Kissavos area. The local varieties stand out for their exceptional quality and flavor. The festivals organized to “honor” this remarkable product combine tradition, scientific knowledge, entertainment, and the promotion of local culture.

It is not only an opportunity for locals to reconnect with their roots but also a chance for visitors to experience firsthand the unique beauty of this magnificent mountain. Furthermore, these events aim to strengthen the effort to establish the Karitsa chestnut as a Product of Designated Origin (PDO), which would have a positive impact on the region’s economy.
