The Rebetiko Festival, organized by the Cultural and Folklore Association of Skopelos in collaboration with the Municipality of Skopelos and the Region of Thessaly, has become a well-established event, drawing visitors from across Greece and abroad. All events are held at the iconic location of Panagitsa tou Pyrgou, in the island’s picturesque port.

This year’s program features concerts by renowned artists such as Babis Tsertos, alongside educational workshops and thematic activities designed to immerse audiences in the history, techniques, and expressive power of rebetiko. Highlights include:

  • Violin seminar with Kyriakos Gouventas
  • Bouzouki seminar by Vasilis Korakakis
  • Guitar seminar (for the first time this year) with Kostis Kostakis
  • Vocal workshop titled “Women of the Gramophone,” led by Haroula Tsalpara, focusing on the great female performers of the era

The festival is further enriched with parallel events, such as the traditional folk instrument exhibition at the Municipal Café, creating a multifaceted cultural event for all ages and interests.

In the alleys, courtyards, and rebetiko venues of Skopelos, rebetiko once again finds its natural place – not as a memory, but as a living experience that moves, teaches, and unites.
