Festival "From Olympus to the Wave" / Manolis Famellos & Doros Demosthenous / Kastri-Loutro

“With a Light Heart” is a mournful yet festive variété — a grand spectacle in budget packaging, led by two seasoned soloists who, alas, seem to have learned little from their long careers.

Festival "From Olympus to the Wave" / Manolis Famellos & Doros Demosthenous / Kastri-Loutro

The title itself is a clear euphemism — and a misleading one — since, in truth, the artists reluctantly decided to collaborate, driven by the burden of various debts accumulated through carefree, irresponsible living during their own personal belle époque.

As for the casting of roles, they made sure to maintain a common denominator: Manolis Famellos will take on the role of chief re-arranger, Doros Demosthenous that of chief entertainer, and in the end, he’ll handle the accounting and, on behalf of the family, offer coffee at the bar…

“With a Light Heart”… Like the recent two-act melodrama by Manolis released on record, the performance is a small time capsule filled with interwar-era songs — and more — lovingly reimagined with both flair and a fearless disregard for danger, using modern and recycled materials.

The band features:
Thanos Michailidis (drums)
Kostas Gianniris (bass)
Nikos Papanastasiou (piano, accordion)
Alekos Voulgarakis (electric guitar)
Christos Papadopoulos (clarinet, saxophone)

Kastri-Loutro
