8th Dance Meeting of Cultures

From Monday, August 25 to Saturday, August 30, 2025, the heart of culture beats loudly in Larissa and the wider region through the 8th Dance Meeting of Cultures – an international festival of traditional dances that has now become an established institution in the cultural life of Thessaly.

The event is organized by the Cultural Association "Dance Meeting of Cultures", in collaboration with the local associations of Pyrgetos, Sykourio, Tyrnavos, and Chalki, under the auspices of the Region of Thessaly and co-organized by the Municipalities of Larissa, Kileler, Tempi, and Tyrnavos.

A journey of traditions from three continents

For five days, 50 dancers and musicians from Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kenya will unite their traditions in a colorful mosaic of dance, music, and culture. The guest dance groups “SAOBRAĆAJAC” from Bosnia and “TARUMBETA AFRICA” from Kenya will perform alongside Greek groups, offering unique evenings with free admission for the public.

Through rhythms, songs, and performances, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the similarities and differences between peoples, as well as the common thread that connects traditions around the world.

More than just a festival

The "Dance Meeting of Cultures" is not limited to artistic performances. It is a channel of cultural communication, aiming at the strengthening of friendly relations, mutual understanding, and the promotion of local cultural heritage.

At the same time, it fosters values such as cooperation, volunteering, team spirit, and respect for diversity. It addresses people of all ages—residents and visitors alike—inviting every friend of tradition to actively participate.
