41st Horto Festival – Pelion / August 9 & 11 / Les Oiseaux/ The Birds

A modern reinterpretation of Aristophanes’ play presents the charm of a beautiful utopia — dwelling among the birds — sinking into oppression and dictatorship. The performance is in French, with bilingual surtitles in Greek and English, by the Compagnie TANT PIS POUR LA GLYCINE.

41st Horto Festival – Pelion / August 9 & 11 / Les Oiseaux/ The Birds

A joyful and salutary reflection on the mechanisms of oppression. When we can no longer bear the economic, moral and political pressure of a society that we loathe, why not go away and live… among the birds?
An maybe, militarize the City of the Birds to give them back power and dignity over men and gods!
Prejudices, lust for power…
The nice utopia can quickly turn into a nightmare. A fierce satire of dictatorship and the mechanisms of oppression. And the sarcastic humor of Aristophanes!

IN FRENCH, SURTITLED IN GREEK AND ENGLISH.

A committed and collective project for a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary creation.
This project, rooted in the Greek cultural territory and enriched by French influences, reflects our shared desire to restore theater’s political and unifying role: to bring people together in reflection and emotion, while humorously questioning the future of our societies.
